About us

Our story began in Montenegro in September 2018 where I was on holiday with a friend. We were at the Bay of Kotor, which is a beautiful mix of mountains, forests and lakes, it blew our minds and drank our senses. Sometimes in life, you visit locations that make you think and feel unique, I’ve heard the same thing about the Grand Canyon and experienced it with Cliffs of Moher. 

For Kotor, we didn’t know the best spots or Instagram features which showcased our amazing reality, we wanted to share a slice of the stunning views with friends at home. We took our average picture and shared online, my memory sparkled with the view but it was never matched with our image. 

We then looked on in regret as we saw pictures from subsequent travellers in better spots after we had left. It turns out there was a specific viewing spot that gave the best picture, unfortunately we missed this. We were sipping a few beers beside the lake while we talked about the problem and came to the conclusion that you needed local knowledge and Instagram expertise to recreate that vista. 

Nothing happened after we went home but it played on my mind as a problem that needed a solution. I enjoyed travelling and having a photo as a memory but knew without local knowledge or better Instagram skills that I could never replicate the image in my head onto a screen. 

I was walking in Phoenix Park in Dublin one day in January 2019 when it hit me. A walking tour of the spots with a local Instagram expert to help me get the best picture at the prime spots and use all the features to their best effect. It would be no match for reality but a good substitute! Thus Instagram Tours was born. 

I scurried home to build out a business plan and started talking to experts to take advice. I’m especially thankful to my brother Niall Mulloy who did the website/technical build and gave plenty of advice. We also put an advert online to get our first “InstaGuides” to give the tour and were overwhelmed with the response. It was hard to narrow it down but eventually we started off with 4 experts, each with different passions and interests. 

There was plenty of bumps and hurdles along the way to make this dream into a reality but we launched our website on the 24th of August 2019 and had our first tour later that week.  I’m full of joy to have a business that people find worthwhile and I’m excited for what the future may bring.

FAQ for Insta Tours

Private tour – 1hr30 – €69.13, Premium tour – 3hr – €49.35, Standard tour – 1hr30 – €19.75 

Find one through our marketing campaigns. Alternatively email me a good joke at, with the subject line of “Discount Joke” and I’ll send you back a discount, we usually work to a turnaround time of 48 hours and we may not be able to reply to every email. The funnier the joke, the better the discount. Note that discount codes can’t be used in conjunction with other discount codes. 

1hr30m is the length of the standard tour, 3hrs is the premium tour. Private tours also offered to your preference. 

You should get an email with your booking and time of the tour you booked. Try and be there 10 minutes early. Bring proof of ID (passport, driver’s license or national ID card) and a copy of your booking email to show proof of purchase.  

An InstaGuide is your tour guide for each tour. 

Each tour is different and will go to new locations. 

Again depends per tour and your InstaGuide will tell you at the start of each tour. It is usually a minimum of 4 places. 

You will go the most Instagrammable spots, shown how to take amazing pictures and learn great Instagram skills. 

The primary focus of the tour is about showing photographic locations and taking pictures. There will be a little bit of local history but the focus will be on photos If you want to learn more about the cities history then would recommend going on another tour. 

We will have a minimum of 5 people and a maximum of 15. If you have a group of larger than 15 people then contact us at and we can arrange parallel tours. 

Each tour needs a minimum of 5 people. If your tour only has 4 people with 24 hours notice then the tour will be cancelled and you will be refunded or offered to go on another tour.

Our refund policy is that you will receive a 100% refund up to 3 days before the tour. 2 days before the tour, you will receive a 75% refund, 24 hours before the tour you will receive a 50% refund and from 24 hours to 3 hours, you will receive a 25% refund. 3 hours or less, there is no refund.
