For any Hen party, a great and fun activity can make or break the enjoyment of the group. You will never find something that will suit everyone in the group. But ensuring the bride has a great time is the most important thing. Here’s the rundown of our top tips for Cork,
Karting:
A very popular and thrill seeking option for any Hen party, there’s a few Karting tracks around Cork. The best known is NKC which is indoors and is close to the city centre. You probably need 3 hours total for this activity from getting from your accommodation. Prices are reasonable at 50e per person for 45 minutes, but it is a good idea to collect this before you start the hen to make sure it’s easier. On the website, they don’t have a price list for groups so best to contact to get the best price.
It may also be a good idea with this activity to ask everyone on the Hen Party if they’re up for doing first. Some people may also say yes but not feel it when they arrive at the track, so be prepared for some cajoling.
Dance class:
This class of Dancing Hen comes to your hotel in Cork and has some amazing dance routines to entertain your entire hen. They pitch themselves as the perfect start to your Hen party and icebreaker. So this could be an ideal activity to plan for Friday night or early on Saturday to set the tone for the weekend. Some of their routines include Dirty Dancing (their bestseller!), Beyonce, Burlesque and Bruno Mars.
They also recommend that they can help you organise a room with your hotel to do the dance class. The class takes 1hr30 to do everything including warm-up. Good fun, have to contact them to get quote for a group.
Sunset kayaking:
For something quite different, choose sunset kayaking for your Hen party in Cork city centre. Only available during the summer (May to September) and from 8.30pm to 11pm. You will see the city from a completely different experience. It’s a relaxed experience in double kayaks so you can go in two’s. You don’t need any experience to do the tour and you’ll also hear great stories about Cork from your guide.
Again it starts in Cork city centre at Lapps quay. It doesn’t have a price but from looking at other offers on the website, presuming it would be 60e per person with all the necessary safety equipment provided. You can read a review here from the Irish Independent. It has a different location than the sunset tour but really shows you the passion of the owner.
Draw/paint a nude:
Great fun and sure to raise a few eyebrows, Life Drawing here offers a hot icebreaker to get everyone in the mood. Their male nude models are more entertainers and less of a silent muse. As well as the main male show, they also provide drawing class material and photoshoot to capture the memory. At the start, the model does a few poses which helps you decide which one you want to draw/paint for 90 minutes.
You need to make sure to book in advance to bring the model to Cork and hopefully a private room in the hotel! Again, may want to ask the hotel about a room before organising. Life Drawings company can also help you organise a venue. Prices aren’t included on the website but you can call and check out.
Escape Rooms:
For the brides that like solving a puzzle, this is the perfect activity for a Hen Party. WeEscape Cork is based in the heart of the city. It can be done for an hour and their bestseller and most popular challenge is Harry Potter (according to their great Tripadvisor reviews). There’s a feeling of family business with WeEscape which is nice to support. They also post regularly on their social media and blog about what’s going on, so can be sure of a quick response. They have excellent prices between 15e and 25e, depending on your group size with rooms being done in batches of 6. It’s definitely something different. They have some discounts with local restaurants so can combine this with food, see our brunch and restaurant recommendations for Cork.
InstaTours:
Finally, ourselves! We offer a great Hen party experience of InstaTours.
